EDS IN COMMAND BATTLESPACE MANAGEMENT
ENABLING EFFECTIVE DECISION MAKING
From CBRN threat prediction, logistics, personnel and training through Military Messaging, the Joint Operations Picture and Mission Planning to Command and Control systems for all three Services, EDS provides components essential to the NEC. Delivering these capabilities over the DII Infrastructure places EDS in a unique position to provide the critical information necessary to support effective decision making in the 21st Century. In defence, EDS utilises leading COTS technologies, its Alliance partners and its affiliations with industry and academia to reduce costs whilst still maintaining effectiveness. Our core skills turn data into information and then into knowledge to enable effective decision making in rapidly changing environments - the delivery of information superiority.
Challenges mount in the Battlespace Arena
Armed Forces throughout the world are facing the challenge of improving their effective capabilities, within limited budgets, to protect the homeland and, where necessary, to deliver their political objectives using force overseas.
Battlespace Capability
EDS already supplies many of the components that will be vital for NEC. These include Joint and single service Command and Control systems, the very powerful Joint Operations Picture with all its subsets and aircraft and helicopter Campaign and Mission Planning tools that include effects based rehearsal and weapon planning. For intelligence we provide Secure Databases and Data Mining, Data Fusion, Imagery Manipulation and Dissemination whilst in the CBRN field, Threat Prediction and Integrated Biological Detection systems are already available. These are all linked by Tactical Data Links, Secure Multifunction Gateways and Secure Military Messaging. EDS also provides comprehensive management and information support in Logistics and Personnel as well as in Operations, thus bringing these three essential components together to provide a complete enterprise picture.
EDS has a defence consultancy division that covers modelling, Future Technology Research, Exercise/Experiment Support and Security Solutions. Through its Alliance Partners and affiliations with industry and academia, EDS is helping to transform IT in Defence and aid MOD in fulfilling its full NEC aspirations.
EDS is the biggest international provider of secure military infrastructure, delivering NMCI and DII to the US and UK military forces respectively. DII will provide seamless communication between Headquarters, formations and units worldwide. As a secure infrastructure, DII will enable collaborative planning across defence and will be the platform upon which core parts of NEC will be delivered. As part of our route map for the future, EDS will exploit our new global Agility Alliance that brings together the best from EDS, and our partners; CISCO Systems, Dell, EMC, Microsoft, Oracle, SAP, Siebel, Sun Microsystems and Xerox.
The EDS value
EDS has worked for many years in partnership with the MOD in the UK and the DoD in the US and understands military requirements and the security regime within which they have to operate. EDS has also deployed its own staff to operational overseas theatres of war in support of military operations.
EDS works closely with the MOD, DoD and other international customers to deliver leading C4I capability and can offer real knowledge and experience gathered from operations in theatres around the world.
