Technical Consulting
For over 36 years, EDS Defence Consulting has provided the UK DE&S (formerly DPA and DLO), NATO and Prime Contractors with technical consultancy services supporting our customers in the definition, acquisition and sustainment lifecycles of military capability.

Experience
EDS Defence Consulting Project Support experience includes:

• Fire Control BISA: EDS is providing technical support to the Artillery Systems IPT as part of the FC BISA, Fire Control Application (FCA) and JETTS projects. This has involved the development of the URD for the FC BISA and SRD for the FCA and FC BISA. EDS is also providing safety, security and test & evaluation consulting. As well as providing invaluable continuity, our flexible approach has provided Arty Sys IPT with trusted, responsive and high-quality input to an important UK Land modernisation programme.
• NATO Air Command and Control System (NATO ACCS): In 1999, EDS was awarded the Independent Validation and Verification (IV&V) contract in support of the NATO ACCS First Level of Operational Capability (LOC1) project. EDS continues to provide a core team to NATO together with a number of specialist consultants to conduct IV&V of the NATO ACCS implementation programme. With our independent perspective and wealth of experience, we support the NATO Project Managers in the early identification, assessment, tracking and resolution of risks within this extremely complex and evolving European programme.
• Tactical Air Control Centre (TACC): EDS is providing Through-Life Support to the Air Command and Control Systems (ACCS) IPT as part of the UK TACC programme. Support activities have included assistance for Link 16 integration, Statement of Work preparation, and SRD and ITEAP development. EDS expertise in ILS, Safety, security and risk management was also provided. Our services allowed the Project Team to create operational and technical documentation in support of a demanding acquisition programme, across a range of topics, in highly responsive timescales.
• UK Joint Data Link Management Organisation (JDLMO): In 2007, the Tactical Data Links (TDL) IPT contracted EDS Defence Consulting - in partnership with an alliance company - to provide operational consultancy support to the UK JDLMO. This work included production of the operational concept documents for UK Data Link Management, standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the complete range of multi-TDL network management activities and a proposal paper for UK Joint TDL training. As a result of this work, the UK have a clear, comprehensive, consistent and structured set of TDL documentation that can be easily expanded to incorporate new TDLs and network management processes.
• Type 45 Training Systems: EDS provided Technical Support to the Maritime Training Systems IPT by developing the URD and SRD for the acquisition of training systems for the Type 45 Integrated Navigation System (INS) and Fully-Integrated Communication System (FICS) ensuring that the procurement of training system was operationally-focussed and prioritised in accordance with the crews' training needs.
