National Security and Resilience Group - Secure Government
National security is one of the fastest growing areas of spending by the Government. The expenditure is directed primarily through the Home Office (HO), the third largest Government department after the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
The secure and effective handling of information is fundamental to National Security. The key differentiator of EDS an HP company in the Secure Government market is the ability to deliver an infrastructure that can provide secure exchange of information at multiple levels across multiple media’s.
Public safety is paramount and a number of the agencies are charged with this joint responsibility. By ensuring information superiority through secure, effective technologies it will enable multi layered prevention, detection and response tools to function seamlessly across these agencies.
Through its new National Security and Resilience group and by building on existing capabilities, EDS can provide IT solutions for national security and homeland defence organisations.
What we are building upon.
EDS’s key expertise is in integrating information technology infrastructure to provide secure, centralised, efficient and effective security solutions to the defence sector. We have delivered the US Navy Marine Corps Infrastructure, and the Joint and single service Command and Control (C2) Systems for the UK Armed Forces. We also lead the ATLAS Consortium which is developing the Defence Information Infrastructure (DII) programme, which will provide a single, integrated information technology platform for the UK Armed Forces.
EDS has already harmonised the UK’s tri-service C2 systems in the battlespace into a Joint Operations Picture, which supports enhanced situational awareness for Operational Commanders by laying data about weapon systems, enemy targets and more over military maps.
We are developing a Defence Multi-application Smart Card (DMASC) to give personnel a digital identity, to access to restricted buildings, computer networks and encrypted emails.
EDS also has experience of integrating, centralising the IT infrastructure and providing secure communication for the UK’s Home Office, intelligence and security agencies.
What now?
We are harnessing this expertise in integrated infrastructure, applications, outsourcing operations and mission domain expertise, to offer a secure common infrastructure for homeland security and law enforcement organisations. Who will use our services in a range of the demanding environments such as everyday operations through to world stage events.
EDS wants to enhance the situational awareness of these organisations to support their fight against crime, violence and terrorism. One way of doing this is to fuse information through a secure infrastructure to enable analysts to filter multiple sources of data and focus on the most important.
This predictive view can be overlaid on a secure desktop with intelligence analysis, predictive alerting, mobile computing and edge devices, visualization, Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and other supporting capabilities.
Interoperability
We have an enterprise wide understanding of the defence domain through our Battlespace, Personnal Management, Logistics, Infrastructure and Consulting divisions, which enable us to look proactively at future client needs.
As a group, EDS also has enabled advanced tracking of individuals at national borders and biometrics.
We are part of the Hewlett Packard group too, which has provided secure desktops to the Home Office, which enable a single computer to be used by people with different levels of security clearance.
Why EDS?
EDS brings more than 40 years industry experience and in-depth knowledge to provide end-to-end support or the right solution to target a specific need.
From intelligence gathering and vulnerability assessment to post-event evaluation, our solutions portfolio addresses all phases of homeland security and public safety support.
